UPCOMING EVENTS
Fourth Annual Road Rally
February 28, 2010
Join your fellow PGIslanders for our Second Annual Road Rally. We will begin at 1 PM on Sunday, Feb. 28, at a location to be announced in the future. This year, your Rally Masters have taken great pains to avoid both the Naples Art Fair and the Miami Boat Show weekends. Round up some friends to fill your car or van and plan to tour some unique parts of Charlotte County by following a set of clues and answering some questions provided by your Rally Masters.
This is not a serious event, so don't worry about getting it wrong. It is just a way to have fun on a Sunday afternoon. There will be help for anyone who gets lost. The event will last for about three hours including a refreshment stop.
There will be an event at the PGICA at 6 PM that evening to recognize the winners and review the clues.
There will be a charge of $2.50/person to cover the costs of rally materials and prizes.
Sign up for this event at the next meeting or email Terry and Karen Clark at kntclark@comcast.net or Rob and Lauri Frost at Rob@frostpinfold.me.uk.
ROAD RALLY DINNER EVENT
Calling all Road Rally teams back to the PGICA dining room at 6PM on Sunday, February 28th for a delicious, strictly informal, catered dinner buffet before presentations. Cost is $6 per person, payable with sign-up.
Assorted Munchies (on each table). Your beverages (wine, beer, colas, etc.) and glassware.
On the buffet
- BBQ Pulled Pork
- Warmed Buns
- Assorted Salads
- Individual Ice Cream Desserts (passed)
Please confirm Monday evening at St. Andrews or email oberle7145@aol.com . We also need a few volunteers to assist with set up and break down.
By way of clarification, the $2.50 paid to the Road Rally Committee is to fund the cost of the rally, including prizes. The $6 paid to the Rally Dinner Committee funds the dinner.
Remember that this evening is BYO; bring your own beverage of choice and glassware.
Thanks!

PGI Canal Cleanup
March 4, 2010
The last two Canal Cleanup projects were done by the PGIslanders. This year it is going to be a Community wide effort sponsored by the Punta Gorda Boaters Alliance . All of the boating groups in the PGI are getting together to clean the canals this year.
Our club is again committed to help in this effort. The date is Thursday, March 4. The actual cleanup will be from 9:00 a.m. until about 12:00 noon. A BYO picnic is planned at the Civic Association at 12:30.
This is a community service project and we need people to help. Those with a small boat are especially needed. I will be at the February Meeting with a Signup sheet. If you can't make the meeting, please call or email me.

Thursday, March 11, 2010
We will once again gather at the Ice House Pub for an evening of merriment including a feisty darts competition where those of you who played last year can seek revenge and give Patrick O'Reilly a challenge defending his title. We are also hoping that many of you who did not make it last year can come and join in the fun and maybe even learn a new skill.
NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH PLAYING DARTS IS NECESSARY!!!
5:00 Lessons and practice sessions for darts with popcorn, of course.
5:30: Dinner consisting of choice of 3 entrees, salad, rolls, butter, dessert, and all non-alcoholic beverages included
6:30: Dart competition begins.
Brendan Nolan will again be performing from 7-10 so, in between darts, you might have some fine entertainment
All players will be paired randomly by John, our dart master and proprietor. There will be 2 elimination rounds so everyone will get to play quite a bit. Prizes for the four top teams.

High School Reunion
Party Time
March 26, 2010
Come prepared to have a great time sharing memories of your High School days with your PGIslander friends on Friday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association. The cost for the evening will be $10 per person and dinner will be included. Please bring your own beverage of choice.
Guests are asked to provide a photo copy of their high school graduation picture or a picture of themselves taken about that time period to one of the committee members prior to the event. We will have a guessing game as to who matches which picture so don't share your picture ahead of time. If you cannot locate a picture, you can still join in the fun but don't tell anyone that you don't have your picture there. Who knows, you might be mistaken for someone else!
If you wish to share a cute, funny, moving or otherwise interesting story about your high school experience, please contact one of the committee members and you may be asked to share the story with the group.
If there are any former cheer leaders in the club who would be willing to lead us in a cheer, please contact the committee and we will set up a practice session!
If you have any high school clothes such as a letter sweater or jacket, a prom dress or cheering outfit that you would be willing to loan, please contact the committee.
Dress for some dancing and plenty of fun but if you wish to dress in the time period of your graduation, feel free to do so.
See you at the party!
Committee members:
- Sue and Rob Linehan, Chair
- Mary and Roger Rommel
- Donna and Paul Willsey
